The possibilities of doing this itinerary are very extensive. The route, divided into four consecutive stages, offers different versions depending on your level of fitness and available time.

You can do the full route over 4 days, where you will spend the night in a different refuge: LoRefugi , La Mussara , Mont-Ral and Prades Park.

STAGE 1:   Cornudella de Montsant – La Mussara .

Distance: 28km
Maximum height: 991m Minimum height: 335m     Gain/Loss: + 1783m – 1326m

The route on this stage is the longest of the Refuges Route. Even so, the places are spectacular and the views are wonderful. In the first place, we will ascend to the village of Siurana located at 706m. Later, we will descend to the Siurana River and head to the refreshing Gorges, thus reaching the abandoned village of Gallicant. We will pass through the old Castillejos military camp, also abandoned. The descent to Vilaplana will help us recharge energy to go up the steep climb to the refuge of La Mussara .

STAGE 2:   La Mussara – Mont-ral

Distance: 20km
Maximum height: 967m     Minimum height: 307m     Gain/Loss: + 1023m – 1149m

This stage follows trails through the wooded areas of our mountains, crossing streams and rivers. Once awake we will begin the descent from La Mussara by La Tosques. Following the trails to reach Font Major and Albiol. Once we pass through these two key points of the route, we will follow two valleys, the river Albiol downhill and the river Glorieta rising. Along this stretch we will find the Niu de l’Àliga and will finally reach the refuge of Mont-ral.

STAGE 3: Mont-ral – Prades

Distance: 22km
Maximum height: 1198m     Minimum height: 704m     Gain/Loss: + 1034m -906

Located in the northern part of the territory, we will discover the highest area. From Mont-ral we will ascend through the Foradada until the Puente de Goi. Momentarily we will descend towards the Font de la Llúdriga in the village of Capafonts, a point located halfway through the third stage. From here, we will climb the winding paths of the charming forests to the hermitage of l’Abellera and continue climbing to the Tossal de la Baltasana, at 1023m. Once captivated by the fantastic views, we will now descend to Prades, where a few minutes away from the centre we will find the refuge of the Campsite de Prades.

STAGE 4:   Prades – Cornudella de Montsant.

Distance: 20km
Maximum height: 1134m     Minimum height: 525m     Gain/Loss: + 608m – 1069m

The last of the stages is the most western. We will travel through the Natural Park of the Serra de Montsant. The path goes up to the Pla de la guardia, where we will enjoy the impressive views. On a rather flat path, we will reach the Grau d’en Saura, from where we will continue until we arrive at Mas d’En Lluc and we will climb the valley to the small town of Albarca. When we leave the town, we will start the final stretch following the historic Camí dels Cartoixans, from Sant Joan Petit to LoRefugi, the end of the route.
