In one of the most beautiful and pure territories of Catalonia, between the Serra de Montsant Natural Park and the Prades Mountains, we find The Refuge Route, an unavoidable itinerary for all lovers of adventure, nature, history and views; paths that wind through forests, ancient olive groves and vineyards so deeply rooted in remote mineral.

We are close to the incomparable Costa Daurada , an emblematic setting of the Mediterranean where we enjoy the mild and benign climate that already seduced the Roman Empire. It is an area full of cultural, historical and natural heritage with a great offer of leisure and outdoor activities among landscapes of great beauty. Culture, history, nature… and gastronomy, as the apex of a rich land full of life.

From the capital of the Baix Camp region we can see and access the natural setting of the Prades Mountains, full of surprising places that convey tranquility and harmony. It is a massif that rises majestically between the Conca de Barberà and the Priorat basin.

Heading into the interior of the Catalan territory, we find the Priorat, a region made up of twenty-three municipalities, with the capital in Falset. It is located at the North West limit of the Prelittoral mountain range of which the Serra de Prades is a part, which opens in the direction of the Serra de Llaberia, separating the region.

It is here that the two designations of origin of wine that give the territory its reputation stand out: DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant.

The Montsant Natural Park is a mountain range of great symbolism in the Tarragona regions. Its striking orography, walled by cliffs and rocks of Oligocene conglomerates, shows the footprint of human activity linked to an important natural heritage, which brings together a high biological diversity. It is an ideal place for nature activities, hiking, photography, etc.

All the towns scattered around the territory are interesting because they hide stories and legends. The refuge route discovers the most beautiful places in the towns; at the foot of the massif, Cornudella de Montsant, Albarca inland, between the solana and the obaga of the mountain, of Muslim origin, Siurana, where the Romanesque apse of its church stands out. The Mussara, also of Arab origin, currently depopulated and located in the middle of the Prades Mountains. The impressive view reveals the south of Camp de Tarragona, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea or Mont-ral, located in the region of Alt Camp, we find it at the western end of the region, on the eastern side of these mountains .
